My Niche

Good morning readers and thank you joining me πŸ™‚

How are you doing?

My Cafe Mocha is once again accompanying this morning which is better than usual, even though I didn’t go for my morning swim.

Two events have made this day better than normal, and both stem from one branch.

1- I finally gained the courage to post a video of my singing online ( thought I should walk the talk πŸ™‚ )

2- I was published in The Edge Financial Daily today. An article on Canada’s biggest comedy export, Russell Peters.

Let me explain to you why this is a big deal, aside the obvious reasons I have always felt that I didn’t have “a thing”. Ashereen has dance and is the creative one, Nav and Rash have badminton and are both musically talented, Akash has tennis and football. I always felt…. out of place. I searched for one but I never found that one thing I loved or had a passion for, there was karate, golf, tennis, football, basketball, fencing etc.

jack of all trades, master of none.

Then came my Prefectship, which became a big deal to me, it felt like my thing but that eventually ended so I continued my search for a “thing”, and I have finally found it…. Thanks to being sick, dropping out of college and coming back home, I have found outlets that I enjoy.

Writing and singing.

So you see, every cloud that have a silver lining… Or more.

Both started out quite randomly. was meant to help me improve my thinking through the blasted brain fog, and look what it has become now πŸ™‚ i have an actual published article. And I want to take my writing seriously, I’m growing my blog, and looking at ways to do some writing on the side. Future accountant by day, freelance writer by night, teacher on the weekends, singing at events on weekend nights. Hahaha. Who knows?

Now the singing caught me and everyone else by surprise. It was a funnyish story. So it was my Sheka’s wedding and I found out that Nav was going to perform a song, I got a little jealous and felt a little betrayed because normally it was the both of us, together out of the lime light at family functions but this time, he was leaving me in the darkness. I couldn’t really blame him could I, he is a talented guitarist, but he felt a little nervous about singing and playing the guitar so I asked him if I could sing…. Actually before that I asked him to get out of the hotel room so that I could practice, but I’ll skip past that. πŸ™‚ instead of feeling sorry for myself I took the opportunity and dared to do something crazy… I have never sung in public, yes I’ve rapped in public, but never sung. Look what that’s done, I have confidence in myself. So not only did I discover a “thing” but I performed for Sheka’s wedding. It was amazing. (click here to watch clip)

Thank you Nav for letting me join you and both Rash and Nav for giving me the confidence that I needed.

Everyone needs a niche, a “thing”, so go and look for yours, you’ll know when you find it, I know you will. πŸ™‚ it took me 21 years to find mine.

I hope I have helped either make your day a little better or at least put a smile on your face.

Straight from the Heart,

Arkay 6
